Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Ashten.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve kept diaries and journals, had pen pals, passed long notes to friends between classes and written whenever I have spare time. I love words. I love weaving them together to tell stories and navigate through them to figure out my thoughts and feelings.

Now, I’m taking my writing to the internet. And you’re coming with me.

My husband Kyle and I got married in September 2017 in Lake Tahoe. It snowed on our wedding day. I was pretty upset about it until I was reminded that it also snowed on Ben Wyatt and Leslie Knope’s wedding day on Parks and Recreation. Then I thought it was awesome. Kyle and I live in Ventura, California: a small beach town in Southern California. I was born & raised here and I’m a pretty proud Ventura local. Kyle is from Lake Tahoe, so we get to split our time between our two picturesque hometowns, which means we get the best of both worlds and the occasional white Christmas. We have rescue dog named Gatsby, a Lab/Great Pyrenees mix, who we adopted in 2015.

In 2017, Kyle and I began the journey of growing our family and struggled with unexplained infertility. It was an emotional, deeply personal and difficult journey that taught us a lot. We have been very open with our journey so if you want to read more about it, you can see posts here. After two years and many procedures, we welcomed our miracle IVF baby, Jacob, in June 2020.

I’m an event planner. Kyle is a videographer. Gatsby is spoiled. Jacob is really damn cute.
