Five Things About Me

Five Things.jpg

A quick aside before we jump in: thank you for the kindness, empathy and love you showed on last week’s post about our IUI. Kyle and I are so grateful to this blogging community for all the support we have received as we ride this roller coaster.

One of my 2019 goals was to spend more time really working on this blog. Also, I’m working really hard not to be “that girl who only talks about her uterus” so spending more time in a place that brings me joy is therapeutic for me.

Sometimes I find myself scrounging for blog post ideas, and when I find myself in this particular state, I turn to Instagram polls.

Sidebar: can we all agree that the Instagram poll is the best, but also the most annoying feature on the app? I love reading people’s answers but not when it takes like 10 minutes to watch one story.

Today’s post is the result of one such Instagram poll and honestly it’s perfect timing. Thanks to my good friend Kallie of But First Coffee giving me one hell of a shout-out, there are a lot of new faces popping up so enough lollygagging and let’s get to five facts you probably never wanted to know about me.

ONE: Our wedding date is special for a few reasons

Kyle and I got married on September 22, 2017 and this date is extra special for a few different reasons. Kyle and I were introduced by our mutual friend, who I’ve known since high school and Kyle has known since college. He and his wife (who is now one of my best friends) live half a mile from us and we see them all the time. September 22 is also their wedding anniversary (they got married a few years before us) and, without really meaning to, we now share the same wedding anniversary with the person who introduced us (we asked for permission to get married on their wedding day). They were in both in our wedding and at our rehearsal dinner we made a special toast to them and thanked them for letting us share their wedding date. Then, one of my other best friends (who was also in our wedding) and her now husband asked if they could get married on September 22, 2018 which Kyle and I were ecstatic about, so now we share a wedding anniversary with two of our best friends.

TWO: My coffee addiction has an origin

I was a barista at Starbucks for part of high school and college. As part of the job I got to take home a pound of coffee a week and my co-workers and I would create fun, new drinks during downtime. I worked with two of my guy friends (both named Andrew) and we called ourselves “The A Team” because were in high school and we were lame. Still to this day it’s one of the best jobs I’ve ever had. And, if it wasn’t so damn popular now, my dream would be to open my own little coffee shop.

THREE: My friends say I am a Leslie Knope and Liz Lemon combo

Honestly this is the best compliment anyone has ever given me. EVER. That is all.

FOUR: My love language is “Words of Affirmation”

When Kyle and I started dating he suggested we take the 5 Love Languages test. I scored the highest in “Words of Affirmation”, then “Quality Time”. I scored the lowest (actually a big, fat zero) in “Physical Touch” which is Kyle’s #1. Are any of us surprised that I scored highest on “Words of Affirmation”? Probably not, considering how much I love words.

FIVE: I collect Christmas Ornaments

IMG_4822.jpg

Since Kyle and I started dating we’ve picked up a Christmas ornament from every place we’ve visited together. Every year when we put up our Christmas tree we get to look back on all the fun we’ve had together over the years and remember all the wonderful places we’ve been. This year, we picked up my favorite ornament to date": the Hogwarts Express from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Now, if you feel so inclined, share some fun facts about you in the comments!
