Oh, friends, it’s been too long since we had our last coffee date. It’s my fault and the only excuse I have is the worst one: I’ve been busy. But, thank you for making time for me today. Let’s just jump right in because we have so much to talk about!
If we were on a coffee date…..there would be hugging, lots of hugging. I would thank you for your love, & support and how you’ve sat in solidarity with me these last few weeks. If you’ve been following along here on the blog or on Instagram, you’ve had an unfortunate front row seat to the BS Kyle and I have been dealing with as we navigate our fertility problems. It’s been painful (literally and figuratively) but I’ve found a lot of peace and comfort in the kind words and encouragement we’ve received from all of you. Hugs all around and yes I’m buying you coffee to say thank you so don’t fight me on this.
If we were on a coffee date….I would ask if you have read any good books lately? I re-read Sharp Objects and She’s Come Undone recently and now I need another good book. I mean, you know me and my deep love of Audible (it’s the only thing that keeps me going on my commute: that and podcasts). I’ve been contemplating starting Harry Potter over for the billionth time so I finish just in time for the newest Fantastic Beasts movie, but I also need a new book to dive into. Any recommendations? I would also remind you that I dislike that bubblegum, romantic chick-lit business.
If we were on a coffee date….I would tell you I don’t really buy in to those direct sales businesses (like Lipsense or Mary Kay) but my friend Kelly recently introduced me to BeautyCounter and, though I was skeptical at first, I have to say I am really enjoying the products and feel like they’ve had a positive impact on my skin. Since we have also been having those lovely aforementioned fertility problems I have done some research into little changes I can make to help our chances and one was to clean up my makeup and skincare. Apparently, there are some chemicals in our make-up and skin care that can affect fertility. Right now I’m using the Dew Skin foundation, the charcoal bar, and the Counter Match Adaptive Moisturizer! If we were on a coffee date….I would share my new favorite Heather Tube Turban from Headbands of Hope. I’m probably wearing it right now. Not only is my friend Jess the CEO (she is legit one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met: there is nothing she can’t do) but the mission of the company is incredible. For every headband you purchase, they donate one to a child with cancer. I’m trying to grow out my bangs and the tube turban has been a real lifesaver.
If we were on a coffee date….. I would ask what community means to you. I’ve been thinking about community a lot lately, especially the blogging community. I miss the old days when we all shared our lives and our hearts on our blogs and I would ask if you felt the same way. I would ask if you are still engaged in your favorite blogs or if you feel disconnected, and if you want to go back to the way blogging used to be. You have a story and it deserves to be shared. I would tell you I’m really trying to get back into this whole writing thing, especially because it’s therapeutic for me to write things out, but man it feels so different these days. I don’t know where I fit in anymore, but I’ll just be over here, writing until I figure it out.
Tell me, what’s going on with you??
