HAPPY FREAKING DECEMBER! My halls are decked, my tree is trimmed, the holiday cards are being addressed and I have maybe 1/4 of my Christmas shopping done. I think we all know this is my favorite time of year and I love the traditions, the joy and the reason for the season.
Let’s meet up for brunch this month. I visited Malibu Farms for the first time and, though it was a bit outside my budget, I loved the fresh food, delicious coffee and cocktails. It’s the holidays: let’s treat ourselves and get to chatting.
If we were on a coffee date….I would tell you I just got home from a girl’s weekend in Newport Beach/Costa Mesa. Two of my best friends live there and one is expecting a baby in May so I took a road trip and we spent the weekend in matching clothes, sipping coffee, shopping, watching Christmas movies and laughing our asses off. I think girl’s weekends are so good for the soul. I would ask what your favorite things are to do with your girl friends and some of the things you do on your girl’s weekends? It was especially fun to do one around the holidays: we drove around looking at Christmas lights and visited this magical place called Roger’s Gardens, which was all decorated for Christmas and SO BEAUTIFUL.
If we were on a coffee date….I would tell you about my friend Nicole who blogs over at House of Drum. She’s a budding photographer and blogger who lives in Seattle. She has as many animals in Hagrid from Harry Potter (Hagrid is one of her favorite characters), she has the cutest little boy who I absolutely adore and she is one tough lady. To say I adore Nicole would be an understatement. I would tell you she is totally worth getting to know, especially if you live in the Seattle area and want to get some photos taken!
If we were on a coffee date….I would tell you I have been devouring everything Shauna Niequist lately. I just finished her book Cold Tangerines in a day and a half and just reread Bittersweet, which I think I am going to read like every six months because it’s just that good. I would tell you I kind of want Shauna to be my best friend in the least creepy way possible, that I want to be her when I grow up and that I wish I was half the writer she is. I would ask who your favorite author is and why you love them. I would ask what your favorite book by them is. I would also tell you I’m probably going to reread Present Over Perfect this week because I just can’t get enough.
If we were on a coffee date….I would tell you Kyle and I have our 2018 goals on our fridge and yesterday we realized we haven’t accomplished a single one. We kind of laughed it off because we made those goals and then 2018 became kind of a shit show and now here we are, not a single one accomplished. I would ask if you made any goals this year that kind of fell to the wayside because life got in the way? We decided to sit down on January 1 and try again, along with creating a new family budget and making some plans to make 2019 a better year…..we need a better year.
If we were on a coffee date….I would tell you about my friend Alex, who owns a company called Chez Gagne, which is witty, hilarious and so, so creative. I would tell you I gave her cards to my bridesmaids at my wedding, and I just ordered like 4 of her mugs as Christmas gifts. I would tell you I love supporting small, female owned businesses especially when they make greeting cards that use the F word.
If we were on a coffee date….I would tell you Kyle is taking me to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on Saturday and I think we can all agree that this will be one of the best days of all time. There will be butterbeer, lunch at the Three Broomsticks and I am going to nerd out so damn hard. Kyle is being a good sport: he got me the tickets for my birthday back in June but agreed to take me in December so I could see Hogwarts all decorated for Christmas. DO NOT WORRY I WILL REPORT BACK.
I am so excited to hear about all your holiday traditions/plans, new favorite things and all the exciting things going on in your life. Please make sure you share in the comments!
