Coffee Date Vol 5

I’ll just start by saying that this mug is from Hearth and Hand with Magnolia. Good news: you can find it in Target stores. Bad news: it is not available online.

And we’re back with the walk and talk with coffee in hand. Why? Because it’s still 80 degrees in Southern California so we all have to be outside. I don’t miss the South often, but when I do, it’s in the fall and winter. I miss the chilly mornings, the leaves changing colors, sweaters and actually using my heater.

And, when I am craving BBQ. Another post for another time.

Anyway, red cups are back at Starbucks (cue my joy) so let’s grab a cup and get to chatting.

If we were on a coffee date….I would ask what your holiday boundaries are? I allow myself to listen to Christmas music and watch Hallmark Christmas movies starting November 1, but no decorating allowed until the day after Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving and think it deserves its own celebration, but if there’s some light Christmas music in the background I am totally okay with it. I would ask what your favorite Thanksgiving side dish is and I would tell you mine is the mashed potatoes, obviously. I think you can tell I love, love, love this time of year.

If we were on a coffee date……there would be some major sharing about the Overnight Resurfacing Peel from Beautycounter. I recently tried it for the first time and holy moly. I would tell you I was nervous at first that I would peel but you won’t actually peel, but you don’t! It’s basically a facial in a bottle. The Overnight Resurfacing Peel uses 15 botanically-derived acids (so it will sting or tingle a little after you put it on) and goes in to clean up any dead skin, hydrates and makes it so soft. I would tell you that it takes a few times to notice the difference, but I have and I freaking love it. New fave product, honestly. I use it 3 times a week and I am going to have Kyle try it, too!

If we were on a coffee date……I would tell you I got a lot of questions about the Ravenclaw candle I purchased from Evil Queen and posted on Instastories last week. It’s from her Harry Potter line and she has one for each house with its own signature scent. I am a Ravenclaw: I was bummed about this at first but after reading the description of a Ravenclaw I have to say it’s pretty spot on, so I was pretty much had to have the candle. I think we all know about my love of all things Harry Potter. I always want to binge watch the movies this time of year, anyone else?

If we were on a coffee date……I would tell you how much I love my Expectant Necklace from Dear Mushka. I would share how I love its powerful message of hope and strength, and how I love the simplicity of it. The brand is really amazing: each one of their pieces has a verse from the Bible to go with it and each piece is so unique. I have found so much comfort in wearing it these last few weeks and will be wearing it at our next doctor’s appointment in a few weeks.

If we were on a coffee date……I would ask how you practice self care? I have asked this a lot but it’s honestly because I struggle with it so much. I know we are all busy and we all have different life circumstances that are varying levels of stressful but shit, I really feel like I can’t balance it all these days and, because of that, I am not taking very good care of myself. I made myself go get a facial from my friend Kaila (who owns Skin by Kaila) and it was hard to make the time. I also have let my new gluten free, dairy free diet go these last few weeks and I’m not sleeping well and I feel like shit. I feel very overwhelmed and very emotional right now, so I’ll take any ideas on how one can make time for self care.

Before we part, I would thank you for these coffee dates. I love them, I love you and I love coffee. See you back here for the next one!
