Ashten, all you ever write anymore is coffee dates.
I know, I know, I’m the worst. Between the commute, my workload and trying to, ya know, see the people in my life that I love, this little blog has fallen to the wayside. I will get better, I promise.
But hey, we’re having coffee today so that has to count for something right?
If we were having coffee…..I would ask to meet you at the park to walk, talk and drink coffee. I’d tell you this is killing 2 birds with 1 stone because we’re moving our bodies AND getting caffeinated. AND I’ll bring Gatsby! WIN-WIN-WIN.
If we were having coffee….I would be bringing my coffee from home. Pumpkin spice coffee from Trader Joe’s with Pumpkin Spice Almond Milk to be exact. I’m a proud basic bitch and I don’t care if you judge me! Normally I would have a PSL but with my new dietary restrictions I am no fun to go out with anymore so here I am with my travel mug filled to the top. I would tell you I’m trying a more Paleo-ish style diet: no gluten, no diary, no soy, and really cutting back on sugar. IT IS ROUGH. I would tell you that GLUTEN IS IN EVERYTHING, even some salad dressings so I have been feeling very restricted and it’s very frustrating. I would tell you I’ve started pinning recipes on Pinterest (find me here) and really focusing on meal planning and giving myself time at the grocery store to really read labels but it’s been a big change. But on the bright side: I FEEL better. I’ve noticed that gluten makes me bloated and sluggish. So, maybe this just isn’t better for my fertility but also for my life? Only time will tell.
If we were having coffee…. I would tell you that I switched fertility doctors. I know many of you follow me on Instagram where I shared that the season 3 premiere of This is Us woke me up and made me switch doctors. My old doctor was, and I won’t sugarcoat this for you, a total dick. I didn’t feel listened to, I didn’t feel like I had any control over the process nor did they tell me any information about what to do about my PCOS. Our last fertility treatment didn’t work so I’ll see my new doctor in November. I’m very excited to see if this new doctor will be able to help us create a plan, listen to us and give us some direction. I would thank you for being so kind to us as we navigate this journey. It’s been hard, expensive and eye-opening and we are so grateful to those of you who have reached out and offered support.
If we were having coffee…. I would tell you that while we are on the topic of making healthy, positive changes I would tell you I have joined Beautycounter. You might remember that on our last coffee date I told you I started using the products back in July thanks to my friend Kelly and really noticed a positive change in my skin. I also truly appreciate that the company mission is to get better skincare into the hands of everyone and that they have a list of ingredients they will never use in their products. I would tell you that I love that the products are high quality, I love how they make my skin look and feel. People keep telling me I’m glowing and Beautycounter is why. I promise not to overload your feeds but hope you’ll be excited for me. If you are interested in looking at the products, click here.
If we were having coffee….I would tell you I love October - December. It’s my favorite time of year, and I decorate, I do all the basic bitch things my heart desires. I would ask if you’re the same way or if you prefer the spring and summer months. I would tell you these next months involve a lot of travel (one small trip to San Luis Obispo for the weekend for Kyle and me), lots of events and a lot of work but there is nothing I love more than cozying up on the weekends with coffee, a blanket and a cheesy Hallmark movie or Halloween classic. I would ask what your favorite traditions are this time of year?
As we go out separate days I would thank you for making time for me today and hope we are able to do this again soon, maybe next time I’ll be able to show up before our next coffee date!
